MUSICAL PERFORMANCES by SIREN NATION
Portland’s favorite harmonizing sisters and recipients of the 2009 Portland Music Awards “Band of the Year” award, Jenni and Amanda Price are the driving force behind Acoustic Minds. They can burn up a stage with Indigo Girls-like power anthems, acoustic jazz/blues picking and smoldering gospel-like testifying, or sophisticated rhythms and adult contemporary singer-songwriting. Producers of a monthly performance of incredible female vocalists, Jenni and Amanda share the stage with up and coming as well as established artists through their event “Sirens in the Round” every third Monday at Club 915. SWAN Day PDX is thrilled to have Acoustic Minds kicking off our celebration of female artists as they celebrate the release of their newest CD, AM Radio, on this same day! See them perform at Noon on Saturday, March 27th on the Sustainable Life Stage Watch the PDXposed TV Segment on Acoustic Minds - www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gk18Lfcq0jI
Armed with her acoustic guitar, powerful voice, and a passionate flair for a life less ordinary... Elke Robitaille is an enthusiastic and self managed folk songstress. Being no stranger to life on the road, Elke has two national tours of the United States and Canada under her belt, having performed in 6 Provinces, as well as 25 States. Her latest album, “Flowers in the City,” has garnered national attention.
With a confessional writing style that is introspective rather than imperative, touring partner Carley Baer’s voice alternates between soft subtlety and brazen belting. Her newest CD, “You Can’t Control the Weather,” is slated for release on SWAN Day itself!
Together with their guitars, Elke and Carley will move you with their melodies. See them perform at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 27th on the SWAN Day Stage.

It serves to unite women artists with their audiences and supporters, and to create a powerful alliance to ensure women’s voices are heard. “The focus of this day is to celebrate the women artists who are creating change in their communities and around the world", said Martha Richards, the co-founder of SWAN Day. The annual, world-wide event is organized by The Fund for Women Artists, a San Francisco based non-profit arts organization that offers networking, fundraising and advocacy services to over 500,000 visitors a year. It is founded on the belief that women artists have the power to change the way women are perceived in our society and is dedicated to helping women artists get the resources they need to do their creative work.
